Australia moving to become cruelty-free in cosmetics

Posted by Jennifer Rudd on

Last week, Australia's Federal Government pledged to ban animal testing in Australia, and to ban the sale of animal-tested cosmetics from overseas by July 2017.  The ban will only apply to new products, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.  It shows the big brands that still conduct animal testing that it is no longer acceptable.

This is promising news for the 27,000 animals per year that the RSPCA estimates are used for cosmetic testing.

There should be no reason to test cosmetics on animals.  These tests can involve rabbits having chemicals dripped into their eyes and dogs receiving chemical burns - all for the sake of beauty.  Many of the big beauty brands still test on animals, including:

  • Avon
  • Clarins
  • Clinique
  • Dove
  • Estee Lauder
  • Garnier
  • Johnsons
  • Jurlique
  • L'Occitane
  • L'Oreal
  • Neutrogena
  • Nivea
  • Olay
  • Revlon

... just to name a few! View the full list if you are interested to see if any brands you use are on it.

Why does animal testing happen?  Because these products contain ingredients that could possibly be harmful to humans.

So do you really want to be using these products anyway?  Especially when there are so many natural and cruelty-free alternatives on the market.

Wild Leaf Botanicals is proudly cruelty-free and our products contain only high-quality natural and botanical ingredients.  We test on family and friends, not animals!

Check out our range here and do your part to show that we do not want our products tested on animals.
